I nearly walked past this cool Phasmatodea aka walking stick today.  They are super still and fun to watch just because they look so interesting.  Walking sticks also have cool cousins, the walking leaf insect.

These giant grasshoppers are everywhere right now.  We tried to catch one and it flew through the air at least 25 feet!

Only guys would build a huge fire in 100+ degree TN heat.  A few dads and the kids had some time to kill and one spark is all it took to light this brush pile.  These flames are actually close to 15 ft in the air.  For reference, the box like structure in the left side of the fire is a six-foot tall storage cabinet.  The entire pile burned to ashes in about ten minutes or less.

For the second year in a row, we’ve lost our peaches to disease and bugs.  We sprayed them once with a name brand fruit tree spray; but we’re going to have to find a more effective treatment if we want to enjoy our own summertime peaches…
