Over 70 family members came from 5 states to celebrate the life of my Grandmother Muzette. It was a historic day. Family that had not been able to be together for decades enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren play, swim, eat, fish and even watch the sheep get sheered. Grandmother prayed for pretty weather and boy did she get it today. God is good.

A week or two ago we decided our cat Patches was expecting. Early this morning I saw Patches sneaking through the cow pasture. Then during my board meeting at work, the calls and texts from my kids started rolling in that Patches was in labor and that a kitten was found alone in the hay. When I got home from work, we found Patches buried in a hay bale with one kitten. But a little further investigation and we discovered three more kittens in a different area in the hay bale! Not sure the best thing for them, we all decided to bring them inside and make sure they are dry, warm and all together. Never a dull moment on the farm.

We made a trip to Tractor Supply Co and we came home with six red sexed link chicks. The kids love them and chicks are getting tons of love and attention. : )

Lots of family turned out to celebrate Winston’s third birthday. The kids had a big Easter egg hunt and colored eggs and then it turned into a fishing party.

Eager for spring gardening, we broke the ground up to start getting ready for planting time a few weeks away. Tractor rides are always a big treat for the kids.

Sixty degrees and sunny was just what the doctor ordered for the last weekend of February. We dug our own worms and Rhonda caught the first fish of the year.

Jack Boone called me at work today saying he heard a bird in our gutter. The problem is that our gutters run all the way into the ground… By the time I got home, there were no sounds coming from the gutter anymore. Not giving up, we cut through the drainage pipe and saw a feathers about two feet down laying in freezing water.
Charles was able to reach his arm far enough to reach it and…
This was actually our second bird gutter rescue. Here’s our first one:
